Welcome to the world sweet girl! These images were taken several weeks ago at an in-home newborn session. Isn’t she adorable?
Five Minute Makeup for Moms
Meet Shelby Rowan! She’s an amazing makeup artist and long time friend of mine. She recently sat down with me for an interview to share some of her top makeup tips for moms. A mama of two little boys herself, she completely understands the struggle of getting ready with little ones at your feet. Shelby has come up with four easy steps to quickly apply simple natural looking makeup with minimal products. Alright ladies, I know you’re ready so let’s break it down!
First up, let’s work on spot correction and smoothing the complexion. Grab your concealer and dab a little under the eyes and any areas needing spot correction (no triangles ladies). Use either your finger or concealer brush to blend it out. Next you’ll need a tinted bb cream. Again use your finger or brush to sheer this out on your face. Keep it heavier in the t-zone and then sheer it out more on the rest of your skin. Don’t have bb cream? No problem! You can mix your moisturizer and foundation together for the same effect. Remember ladies, this is for a sheer smoothing coverage.
Ok now it’s time to pick two features to focus on. We’ll go with eyes and lips. Grab your favorite mascara and apply a light coating. Since this is a natural look, you’ll want to be careful not to overdo it. And Finally, pucker up those lips for a tinted lip gloss or lip stick. Stick with something natural or add a color pop if you’re feeling it. Alright mama, you’re ready to go!
Extra time? Shelby recommends adding some bronzer or blush along your cheek bones and using a tinted brow gel to really make your features pop.
PRODUCT FAVES:
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Bite Foundation
L’oreal Voluminous Mascara
Benefit or Anastasia Brow Gel
Lime Life Lip Gloss or Stain
Skincare Bonus: Before good makeup comes good skincare. Shelby recommends following a regular skincare routine to keep your complexion clear and ready for makeup. First, find a gentle cleanser that works for you. Next up, moisturize! This step is so so important to keep skin hydrated and youthful looking. You can also pair your moisturizer with a light SPF to help protect your skin. Finish up with an antioxidant rich vitamin C serum and you’re ready to put your makeup on. Take your skincare to the next level by exfoliating once a week or so to help remove dead skin cells and keep your skin glowing.

Fall Family Photos
It’s fall family photos season and everyone is striking a pose for their holiday cards! The number one worry I come across is “what if my kids won’t behave?”! Guys, I have yet to do a shoot where we couldn’t get at least a couple of good shots of all the kiddos. Sometimes it can be so difficult to get happy faces from everyone especially with larger groups of children. I find that is also what’s so great about it. Don’t we all laugh when we see the ONE little one in the group who is clearly over it? I know I do.
Take a look at this sweet family! We captured some really cute shots… and you would never know about any of the pouting, crying, and hey candy bribing that went on behind the scenes. It is totally normal and expected with little ones. We come prepared to dance, bribe, be silly or whatever else it takes to crack a smile. So when you’re out getting family photos this year, pack some treats and know that whatever happens you’re not alone.

Flowers, Love, and Baby Bump
Can you say GORGEOUS! Nature delivered up some of it’s very best in this wild flower field. I am so pleased with this cute couple’s session. We went to a local nature preserve to find this spot. I’m always on the hunt for beautiful locations!

Beautiful Bump
This mama is truly radiant! After a full week of rain, we were really worried about the weather ruining our outdoor shoot. Thankfully, the rain stopped that day and the cloudy weather that followed made way for that perfect even lighting! I absolutely love how these turned out. I hope you agree!

All Wrapped Up
This sweet baby boy was photographed at home at one week old with mom and dad nearby watching. He was sleepy and calm for most of his session. Babies tend to eat more than usual during their sessions. Being a model is hard work after all! We stop for feeding as often is necessary to keep baby calm and happy.
Baby R
Say hello to this cute little man. He worked up quite an appetite during his shoot... modeling is hard work! Most babies will eat a little more than usual during their session. This session was done at home using natural window light.
Sweet Anticipation
Their very first baby on the way! It's always something special to see how couples bond and interact during this new journey. My bet is that they are going to be awesome at parenting. This cozy session was done in studio using natural light.
